Easy, healthy, and simple chocolate dessert
The weather has been getting a bit warmer over here, so naturally I’ve been craving a lot of smoothies, acai bowls, or just cold treats in general.
I’m a big chocolate fan, so when the late-night chocolate cravings hit, this recipe is great for satisfying your sweet tooth while also providing you with fiber, vitamins, protein, and HAPPINESS.
With fiber from the banana and the cauliflower, this smoothie bowl actually keeps you FULL! So it’s great for breakfast, an afternoon snack to get you through the day, or an after-dinner treat for when you feel like snacking, but you also want to watch what you’re eating.
Also, with protein from the protein powder, this chocolate smoothie bowl recipe keeps you satisfied!
What makes this smoothie bowl thick and creamy?
An ingredient that really helps with making the texture thick and creamy is FROZEN CAULIFLOWER! It seems a bit odd at first, but cauliflower has a very neutral, subtle sweet flavor to it that makes a perfect addition to any smoothie or smoothie bowl.
It also helps to use frozen bananas for this recipe because it will give the smoothie bowl texture more richness and viscosity. Normal, room temperature bananas will work just fine too! The texture will probably just not be as creamy, icy, and thick as when you use frozen bananas.

Not vegan? Ingredients you can substitute?
You can easily substitute the unsweetened vanilla coconut milk yogurt for any type of yogurt you like. I chose to use unsweetened coconut milk yogurt to keep the recipe dairy-free and lower in sugar. The banana gives the recipe a lot of natural sweetness as is, so if you’re watching your sugar intake feel free to use another low sugar yogurt.
You can also sub out the oat milk for regular cow’s milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or whatever milk you have on hand.
And of course, you’re free to use any chocolate protein powder whether it’s vegan or not! 🙂
What kind of toppings should I use?
Honestly. Anything you want really! I chose sliced bananas and strawberries, cacao nibs, and dark chocolate granola, but you can choose any toppings you like!
This bowl is super customizable to your own tastes, so feel free to be creative and try out different toppings or use whatever you have handy!
