Small Batch Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies with Sea Salt
Brown butter cookies with puddles of melty chocolate and topped with flakey sea salt. This small batch recipe is perfect for when you just want a small sweet treat!
Servings: 5 cookies
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- ¼ cup dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup white granulated sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ cup plus 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 oz (56 grams) freshly chopped milk chocolate
- ¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Start by browning your butter in a saucepan until brown specks appear at the bottom of the pan. Once browned, set the butter aside in a bowl and let cool.
- In a mixing bowl, add your dark brown sugar and white sugar.
- Scramble one egg in a separate small bowl.
- Add your cooled brown butter to the bowl with the white and brown sugar. Mix well.
- Add 3 tablespoons of the scrambled egg to the mixing bowl and mix together. Add in ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix again.
- Next, add in your salt, baking soda, and flour and combine until homogenous.
- Stir in your freshly chopped chocolate and chocolate chips. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 45 minutes.
- After the dough is done chilling, preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
- Form 5 cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes.
- Top with Maldon salt once they are out of the oven. Enjoy!
