Incredible Banana Bread Recipe that’s Moist, Sweet, and Easy to Make
The best banana bread recipe that’s perfect for any occasion or no occasion at all! Moist, rich, sweet, and will keep you coming back for a second slice!
Honestly, one of my favorite fruits to have in the kitchen at all times is bananas! They’re so versatile, and they pack so much flavor and sweetness into everything you make!
I add a bit of yogurt into a lot of my baked goods recipes because it keeps everything moist and flavorful. Nothing worse than eating dried-out, crumbly banana bread that doesn’t even hold its shape. You can use any type of yogurt, and it should work fine. I typically make this with regular cow milk yogurt, but Greek yogurt, sour cream, or even plant-based yogurts should work just as nicely.

This recipe is perfectly sweet (without being too sweet) and amazingly moist throughout so that every piece is the best piece. I really like using semisweet chocolate chips in this recipe because it complements the banana flavor really nicely without overdoing the sweetness. I even like to add chopped walnuts because the added crunch gives this recipe more depth and texture profiles.
Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips and Walnuts
Equipment
- loaf pan
Ingredients
- ¾ cup white granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter room temperature
- 2 large eggs
- 4 bananas very ripe, medium-sized
- 1 tbsp almond milk
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp sour cream or yogurt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 dash pumpkin spice
- chocolate chips optional
- chopped walnuts optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. If you have a more advanced oven model, use normal bake instead of convection bake.
- Prepare a loaf pan with non-stick spray. I like to use Pam Spray for Baking!
- Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl until combined, with the texture being light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg.
- Peel the bananas and place them into a medium bowl. Then, mash them using a fork. Mix in the milk, vanilla extract, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and stir until combined. Next, add the sour cream (yogurt) and mix until combined. Add dry ingredients, mixing just until flour disappears.
- I like to add some semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped walnuts to add some extra flavor and texture, but feel free to omit these if you would like. TIP: If adding nuts, buy them whole and chop them yourself! They are much fresher this way than buying pre-chopped nuts at the store.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 45 minutes-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Do not overbake! The bread will continue to bake even after you take it out of the oven. Nothing worse than dried out banana bread. Set aside to cool on a rack for 15 minutes.
- Slice and enjoy!

Super delicious and moist! First time making banana bread with this recipe and it was a success! My family liked it and they are not banana bread people. Adding some chopped nuts definitely adds to the texture and makes it even better.
So happy you and your family liked it, Jenny! <3
My first time making banana bread was a success thanks to this easy to follow recipe! This banana bread is just the right amount of sweetness, and adding chopped walnuts takes the deliciousness to a whole new level. Loved the tip about adding a bit of yogurt to retain moisture.
Thanks Karen! So glad you liked the recipe!
